La ville de Split est inscrite au patrimoine mondial de l'humanité pour son palais de Dioclétien, mais aussi sa cathédrale. Ville de plus de 1700 ans, avec son palais de Dioclétien (empereur romain), où demeurent encore aujourd'hui près de 3000 habitants. Construite vers 300 après JC, c'est une construction unique en Europe. Le palais raconte presque 17 siècles d'architectures différentes. La particularité de ce palais est qu'il vit encore de magasins, de restaurants et de bars à la mode ainsi que son marché ouvert tous les jours.
